COMMISSION INFORMATION

Pet Photos

High resolution digital photos are best, and most camera phone’s these days are good enough, but bear in mind my work is focused on the fine details of the subject, so it must be in focus and show enough detail for me to work from.  The more detail that is visible in the photo the better will be the finished portrait.  If you would like some guidance on which photo will work best as a drawing, feel free to send me a selection of photos and I am more than happy to help you choose.  Sending me a few photos of your pet is also helpful to get to know their appearance and personality, but the portrait will be drawn from just one photograph.

Deposit

I don’t usually require a deposit,  I will ask for payment once the portrait is complete.  However, for particularly large portraits or multiple subjects I may request a 30% deposit.

Timescale

An A4 sized commissioned drawing will take on average 25-30 hours to complete, and up to 50 hours if it includes a background or lots of detail. Your portrait may take a few weeks to a few months to complete.  Sometimes I am available for a quicker turn around, so if you would like a portrait for a specific date or for a special occasion, then just get in touch and i’ll let you know if it is possible.

The Process

Once the photo I will work from has been decided, I will often create a draft of the portrait in Photoshop software.  This usually involves editing out any background that is not required, adjusting the brightness/ contrast, and positioning it on the paper size that has been chosen.  If the portrait has more than one subject, I will suggest some layouts and options at this time.  This can help you visualize the finished portrait and work out what size / layout you prefer.  Any changes you wish can be made until you are happy with the draft.

When I am ready to begin your portrait, I will let you know I am about to make a start and I will keep you updated throughout the process.

Once the portrait is complete, I will send you a scanned image and await your feedback!  You can let me know if there is anything you’d like me to alter,  I may only be able to make small amendments but I am happy to work with you on anything you feel needs attention.

Payment

Once the portrait is complete and providing you are 100% happy, I will ask you for the full payment.  This can be paid by bank transfer, UK Cheque, or with debit/credit card via PayPal.

My Guarantee

My promise to you is that if you are not completely happy with your portrait you will not need to purchase it.  It hasn’t happened yet!.. but I will keep the portrait and you will not need to pay.  Any deposit that has been paid will be refunded.
