Art has always been my thing – the subject I loved most and excelled at throughout school. My passion led me to college, where I completed an Art & Design Foundation Course, with the intention of continuing to university. Drawing, more than anything else, was what truly inspired me. In fact, my tutor encouraged me to pursue a Fine Art or Drawing degree.

Looking back, perhaps I should’ve followed that advice – but at the time, I couldn’t quite picture a career built on “just drawing.”

Instead, I decided to step into the big wide world and chase a role in the creative industry. After a brief stint in graphic design, I eventually found my place as an Embroidery Digitizer – a job that, luckily, turned out to be quite similar to drawing, only with a digital twist. Whenever the opportunity arose to create animal embroideries, I jumped at it. Instead of pencil strokes, I worked with stitches to replicate the texture and detail of fur – right up my street!

My love of art and animals came together.

After several years, I picked up the pencil again, inspired by my love of animals. It became clear to me that my true potential lay in drawing what I’m passionate about. I dedicated my spare time to practicing, fueled by a newfound ambition to become an Animal Artist. A few years later, I was creating commissioned pieces and selling prints of my work. What began as a hobby gradually grew into a thriving side business alongside my embroidery career.

Since then, I’ve had two wonderful children, which meant fitting my art around work and family life. Pursuing art professionally was always my long-term goal, and in 2020, I was finally able to commit to it full time. I feel incredibly fortunate to have transformed my passion into my profession.

It was pencil that captured my love of art but I have now ventured into the wonderful world of colour!

For many years, I focused purely on graphite pencil, perfecting my skills in creating black and white images.

Exploring different mediums has opened up new possibilites and fuels my passion for creating.  Now I like to use watercolour & pastels alongside my pencil work.

This keeps me excited about the art I create.  I never stop learning and I always enjoy discovering new ways to make beautiful art.

As well as drawing & painting, I love taking photo’s, especially when walking in the countryside, enjoying the beauty of nature.
